Neighbors for Education

Friends/Neighbors...while we have been focused on next year's operating budget for the School System, we have perhaps missed a more significant battle...the 2011-2016 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).  The CIP pays for new school construction.  See the facts on the "What's Happening Now Tab above...they are STARTLING!

The School Board submitted their recommendation, which included funding for a new middle school and high school to open in Dulles South in 2015 and 2016 respectively.  But the Board of Supervisors is considering the Compliance CIP, which does not include the two schools until at least 2018 given that their is no funding for the land until beyond 2016.

This does NOT affect the opening or funding of MS-5 (J. Michael Lunsford) or HS-7.

For your information, you can see both the LCPS recommended CIP and the Compliance CIP at the county website below.

This will greatly affect every student in Dulles South in Middle School or High School starting in 2015.  We need some funding for the long term welfare of our students.  Please pass this to your neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,
Jeff Morse
DSNFE

 School Board Members:

The mission of the Dulles South Neighbors for Education is to ensure that the children of Dulles South are afforded the opportunity to attend top-notch Loudoun County schools in the Dulles South region of the county. It is our goal to foster academic and personal growth within our schools so that every child can reach his or her potential.

Neighbors for Education will not take a specific position on boundary adjustments. We will continue to inform you of dates and decisions and will continue to encourage your involvement in this very public process. Boundary adjustments can be a very difficult and emotional issues. We encourage you to stay involved to find the best possible solution with the least impact to the students.
